PLATE OF NATIONS PASSPORT CHALLENGE IS ON!!!

We are off and RUNNING with Plate of Nations!! Don’t want to miss any of the Plate of Nations restaurants? Challenge yourself with the Plate of Nations Passport contest to indulge in delicious global menus from ALL of the venues, collect stickers, and qualify for great prizes along the way.

Now in its third year, the Plate of Nations Passport challenge has been a fun tool to encourage diners to eat their way across the world right here along MLK in the Valley, and win great prizes like our Grand Prize: a private cooking class with Plate of Nations chef-owner Faye George of Thai Savon! Faye’s mastery of Southeast Asian cuisine started with childhood in Laos, where meals are daily rituals that bind family and friends in a deep love of enticing flavors and good company. When you step into Faye’s kitchen, you and three of your friends take your places as members of her family, privy to some of her traditional secrets. If you’re lucky, her husband Alvin will be there too. You may get some tips on is family’s recipe for Tlingit frybread! You need all 12 stamps to qualify – so better get busy eating all of that great food with your family and friends!

Don B., last year’s grand prize winner of an afternoon with Chef Jose Luis Pantigas at Huarachitos had this to say, “The Plate of Nations introduced us to much new, interesting, and fine dining in our Othello neighborhood last year. We were lucky to win the grand prize of a cooking demonstration at Huarachitos in the Station at Othello. Chef Jose Luis gave Kesten and I a fine demonstration on how to make chili relleno (my favorite dish). He and Anna are gracious hosts and set places for my daughter, son in law and grandson to join us in consuming the delicious result.”

We have other great prizes that are inspired by food and our focus on “going green” this year. Our first prize, a Community Supported Agriculture half-share market basket June – October, from Seattle Market Gardens pulls together some of the best sustainability elements happening in Seattle today. Veggies are grown right here in the Valley – an area that was once almost all fertile farmlands – at the New Holly Market Garden through the P-Patch Community Gardening Program! Part of the beauty here is that the locally, expertly grown food in these baskets are fertilized by organic compost, some of which may have been processed from area restaurants. How’s THAT for closing the loop? 10 stamps will get you in the running!

For those of you that want to grow your own basket of food, Seattle Tilth has donated a Maritime Northwest Growing Guide and a Tilth membership for our Second Prize. The 78-page guide outlines each month’s garden tasks and lists hundreds of vegetable, herb and flower varieties to plant, and the membership gives you access to exclusive events, information and discounts. 8 Stamps!

Finally, our friends at the Seattle Public Utilities’ Seattle Green Business Program, and Seattle City Light have donated SIX “Green Goodie Bags” that include: A home compost pail, showerhead, faucet aerator, shower timer, a green reusable tote that folds down to pocket size, outlet and socket insulation gasket, notebook, 2 different LED key chains, one with a rechargeable hand-crank, a Puget Sound t-shirt and MORE! 6 stamps is all you need!

ADDITIONALLY, every one of our restaurants has donated a GIFT CARD, and Chinook Book donated mobile apps that will be given away on FACEBOOK! We will have a contest there EVERY DAY! Have fun! Go Eat! More information on the Passport challenge can be found HERE.
